Marie-Charlotte Ring has been a legal trainee in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf since November 2025, assigned to the Regional Court of Mönchengladbach. She completed her administrative placement in the administration of the German Bundestag in unit Int 2 – International Parliamentary Assemblies in Berlin. Since October 2026 she has been completing her law firm placement at ITMR.

She studied law at the University of Cologne and successfully passed her first state examination at the Higher Regional Court of Cologne. Before that she completed the LL.B. English and German Law at University College London (UCL) and the University of Cologne. She wrote her bachelor's thesis on “What may satire do? The limits of satire between freedom of expression and defamation, using the example of German and English law.” During her studies she placed particular emphasis on intellectual property, attending courses in trademark law, copyright law and intellectual property, among others.

After her first state examination and in the transition period before starting her traineeship, she deepened her knowledge of intellectual property law with a Diploma in International Intellectual Property Studies at the Centre d’études de la propriété intellectuelle (CEIPI) in Strasbourg, specialising in trademarks, designs and registered designs.

She gained practical experience in intellectual property, among other things, during an internship at CMS Hasche Sigle. She also gained insight into Franco-German cooperation at the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia, where she worked in Office II of the Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany for Cultural Affairs. She gained further practical experience in mergers & acquisitions at Allen & Overy Shearman.

Thanks to her international education, she speaks German and French at native level and has business-fluent English.

Marie-Charlotte Ring is a research assistant at ITMR Rechtsanwälte PartGmbB, the law firm for IT law and media law based at Schirmerstraße 80 in Düsseldorf. During her law firm placement she works in the firm's team on mandates in IT law, intellectual property, design law, competition law and copyright law, as well as media law and press law.
