CV
Verena Wöller has been a legal trainee in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf since November 2025, assigned to the Regional Court of Wuppertal. She completed her administrative placement in the administration of the State Parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia in the units for human resources, members' affairs / allowances and plenary / council of elders / committees, gaining in-depth insight into current political decision-making and the legal support of parliamentary work. Until June 2026, alongside her legal traineeship, she worked as a research assistant in the Corporate Law and Board Office of TARGO Deutschland GmbH in banking supervision, corporate and capital markets law. Since October 2026 she has been supporting the ITMR team as part of her law firm placement.
She studied law at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf, specialising in “Law of Politics”. In addition to the regular courses, she attended interdisciplinary courses in criminology and forensic medicine for lawyers and a one-year course in French law and French legal language. She successfully passed her first state examination in 2021 before the Judicial Examination Office of the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf. After her studies, Verena Wöller worked as a research assistant in the energy law practice group at PricewaterhouseCoopers and at MSH Rechtsanwälte in Düsseldorf, a firm specialising in labour migration.
In her free time she was involved for many years as an altar server and group leader in the Catholic parish community of Eller-Lierenfeld in Düsseldorf. Verena Wöller is a member of the German Women Lawyers' Association (Deutscher Juristinnenbund), the women lawyers' association “Paragraphinnen” and Weißer Ring e.V., which supports victims of crime. After her traineeship she would like to become more involved there.
Ever since her school days, Verena Wöller has been enthusiastic about foreign languages and very interested in national and European political developments. Following her specialisation and her enthusiasm for the idea of European integration, she completed the one-year master's programme “Master en Droit et Contentieux de l’Union européenne” (LL.M.) at the Université du Luxembourg, focusing in particular on European procedural law, competition law and public procurement law, data protection law and trademark law. In the “Intellectual Property” module she examined academically the legal scope of the review of trademark disputes by the EUIPO Boards of Appeal. She wrote her master's thesis in European civil service law on “La procédure précontentieuse dans le contentieux de la fonction publique de l’Union européenne - Simple formalité précédant la saisine du Tribunal ou réelle étape de traitement d'un litige ?”. After her master's degree, Ms Wöller completed a five-month internship in the Press and Information Unit of the Court of Justice of the European Union and is therefore very familiar with current developments in EU case law and the procedural fundamentals.
Verena Wöller enriches our team with her language skills and international experience. Thanks to her understanding of European law issues and political contexts, she always keeps the socio-political dimension and current EU legislation and case law in view when solving complex legal matters.
