CV

Ms Samanta Bukmajer has been a legal trainee at the Regional Court of Düsseldorf since October 2025 and is currently completing her law firm placement at our firm.

She studied law at the University of Cologne, completing her studies in 2024 with the first state law examination. During her studies she specialised in intellectual property and competition law. She dealt in particular with trademark law, copyright law and unfair competition law, examining both the legal foundations and their practical significance.

A particular focus of her academic interest was the legal issues arising from the application of copyright law in the digital and private sphere. In her specialisation paper entitled “Copyright and the private sphere”, Ms Bukmajer examined in depth the extent to which holders of an internet connection are liable for copyright infringements committed by third parties. The focus was in particular on the tension between the protection of intellectual property and the private use of digital communication and information services. The paper highlights her particular interest in copyright issues and in the challenges that digitalisation poses for the relationship between legal protection and private life.

While still a student, Ms Bukmajer gained several years of practical experience at a large international law firm. Alongside her studies she worked in the Complex Disputes department, supporting the team in particular with legal research and drafting pleadings. This gave her early insight into how lawyers handle commercial mandates and allowed her to apply the knowledge she had gained during her studies in practice.

Ms Bukmajer then moved internally to the IT law practice, where she worked as a research assistant for two years. In this role she dealt in particular with current legal issues relating to artificial intelligence. Her work included contributing to specialist publications, in particular on the AI Act. She also prepared legal opinions and developed legal strategies for advising companies with a particular focus on artificial intelligence. In addition, she helped prepare the corresponding lines of argument.

Her legal profile thus combines in-depth training in intellectual property and competition law with practical experience at the interface between law and technology, in particular in connection with legal issues relating to artificial intelligence.
