Mina Afshar, research assistant

As a research assistant, Mina Afshar supports the ITMR team in intellectual property mandates and in copyright, competition, media and press law. Her university specialisation in intellectual property and her administrative placement at the Federal Cartel Office shape her view of trademark, patent and competition law issues.

In her article Health-Claim-Pflichthinweis: Packung reicht für Werbeanzeige (in German), Mina Afshar analyses the decision of the Court of Justice of the EU (C-657/24): the mandatory statement under Art. 10(2) of the Health Claims Regulation on the packaging does not have to be repeated in written advertising.

Mina Afshar has been a legal trainee in the district of the Higher Regional Court of Düsseldorf since August 2025, assigned to the Regional Court of Wuppertal. She completed her administrative placement at the Federal Cartel Office in Bonn. Since July 2026 she has been completing her law firm placement at ITMR.

She studied law at Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg, where she passed the first state law examination. At university she specialised in intellectual property, deepening her knowledge in particular of patent law, copyright law, trademark law and antitrust law. Her seminar paper was on a patent attorney topic.

Ms Afshar gained practical experience in intellectual property as well as in media law, press and expression law during several internships at specialised law firms. Among other things, she dealt with issues of intellectual property and competition law. She also gained insight into proceedings before national and international authorities.

Alongside her legal education, she still volunteers in mentoring and education projects supporting young people.

Mina Afshar is a research assistant at ITMR Rechtsanwälte PartGmbB, the law firm for IT law and media law based at Schirmerstraße 80 in Düsseldorf. During her law firm placement she works in the firm's team on mandates in intellectual property, trademark law, design law and patent law, as well as copyright law, competition law, media law and press law.
