Lawyer Mr Dominik Skornia was a legal trainee at the Regional Court of Düsseldorf, completed both his law firm placement and his elective placement at ITMR Rechtsanwälte and has been employed by us since November 2025.

He passed the first state law examination in 2021 after studying law at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU), specialising in commercial law.

In his specialisation he focused on competition law and antitrust law and in depth on industrial property rights and copyright law.

After successfully completing his studies, Mr Skornia worked as a project assistant in HHU's student and examination administration, where he was entrusted with digitalising the application and enrolment process. He handled the data protection tasks and issues relevant to the project in consultation with the university's data protection officer.

Mr Skornia supports companies in implementing GDPR-compliant processes and trains employees on legal requirements in the digital environment. His expertise in artificial intelligence and its legal implications complements his profile and strengthens our firm. He also advises start-ups and established companies on legal challenges in digital transformation, especially when developing data-protection-compliant software solutions. He assists with drafting IT contracts, reviews licence agreements and supports clients in competition disputes. His interdisciplinary approach combines legal expertise with technical understanding to offer innovative solutions. By regularly attending specialist conferences, he always stays up to date with case law and technological developments. Mr Skornia aims to protect companies legally while promoting their competitiveness in the digital market.

Since November 2025 he has been bringing his expertise and experience to ITMR, strengthening our team of lawyers in particular in intellectual property, IT law, contract law and data protection law – in a targeted and solution-oriented way for our clients. In 2026 he was awarded the AI-Privacy-Expert (GDDcert. EU) certificate on the basis of tested expertise.
